The Landscaped Walk

A place to reflect, to learn, to rest.

Revolutionary Walk: Exploring the Battle of Edgar’s Lane is installed within Wagner Plaza at the intersection of Broadway and Warburton, near the site of the battle. At its heart are six new interpretive panels containing substantial historical context, including new scholarship driven by our historian Erik Weiselberg, PhD., newly commissioned historical maps by Robert Romagnoli, and illustrations commissioned from artist John R. Wright.  A highlight of the display will be a reproduction of a battle recreation painting by renowned military artist Don Troiani. Our panels are designed by noted graphic artist Laura Smyth. The Walk landscaping is designed by Susan Jainchill of Aspect 120. The panels are printed on aluminum using the direct embed process and are mounted on custom fabricated stands.  They are installed in an arc with seating, set within carefully selected plantings. The existing Daughters of the American Revolution monument remains in the place of honor it has occupied for over 80 years.

The entire installation, hardscaping and landscaping, was completed by Mario Bulfamante & Sons under the tireless generosity and professionalism of Benny Bulfamante, without whom this Walk would simply not have been possible.

Revolutionary Walk was dedicated to the public on September 30th, 2021, the 243rd anniversary of the battle. The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson and the County of Westchester are supporting this effort, and we have been endorsed by Revolutionary Westchester 250, the Hudson River Patriots Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct. We are constantly seeking new collaborations and endorsements.
